Microsoft Power Pages is the low-code platform for external business portals that securely make business data and processes available to external audiences. It is built on Microsoft Dataverse: data is organized in tables, visualized through forms and lists, and can be entered or updated directly in the portal. Changes are stored consistently in Dataverse, making them available not only for the portal itself, but also for other solutions within the Microsoft Power Platform and for Microsoft Dynamics 365.

In Design Studio, you can work with stable layouts and templates that accelerate implementation — from starter layouts to scenario-based templates. This allows you to create a portal quickly that fits your business requirements while still being easy to align with your corporate design.

Create complaints or service cases, track statuses, and upload documents.

Sales portal

Capture requests in a structured way, reduce follow-up questions, and improve data quality.

Partner portal

Manage master data, shipping notifications, or service assignments with clearly defined roles and permissions.

And because many companies already use Microsoft Dynamics 365, a portal can be cleanly connected to CRM and ERP processes — for example for a CRM solution with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or for industry-specific scenarios such as ERP for the food industry (e.g., order status, returns, or quality notifications).

Security and governance: roles, identities, and protection against attacks

Public-facing portals require a robust security concept. Power Pages provides an integrated security model, including role-based access and monitoring in the security workspace. In addition, Microsoft Entra ID can serve as an authentication layer to help prevent unintentional data leaks — for example while portals are still under development.

For additional protection against common web attacks, Power Pages can be integrated into a web application firewall (WAF) infrastructure, for example through Azure Front Door.

Copilot and agents: self-service that actually helps users

When users no longer have to “click around” to find information, but can simply ask for it directly, a portal becomes much more useful. Power Pages supports this with AI capabilities through Microsoft Copilot: conversational assistance helps when creating pages, forms, and text or when embedding chatbots — without requiring years of development experience.

You can also embed agents from Microsoft Copilot Studio into Power Pages, allowing website visitors to interact directly with a chatbot — for example for FAQs, status inquiries, or guided processes.
